NEWS
  • Connery-2 launch was successful, we also were able to recover the payload without any issues. Unfortunately about half way through our flight we lost GPS, we are assuming this was caused by the freezing temperatures on the outside of the near space capsule. More data to come soon!
  • Connery-2 launch is planed for November 21st, 2008 at 4:30pm possible sooner. The Freeman, AZ launch site has been chosen due to the expected north west winds. The payload for Connery-2 will consist of an improved flight computer with the capability of triggering photographs more often than the OpenTracker+'s power control line. The flight computer will also be logging data at an increased frequency. The video from Connery-1 was foggy due to pressure tight seals in the camera's body causing condensation, the camera has been modified to equalize pressure and avoid this problem. Styrofoam peanuts were used in the previous launch to fill in extra space in the payload container, sections of soft foam will replace the peanuts in Connery-2. APRS ID has been set to KE7ULZ-1, to track the balloon when we launch it please visit APRS.fi.
